Voting in favour of society

During the last two weeks the group “Le B’Rispett Lejn il-Ġejjieni” tried to deliver a crystal clear message, a message that next Saturday’s vote is out utmost importance for the future, particularly for the future of us youths still in the phase of building a family of our own.

Next Saturday’s referendum is not a vote about divorce in vacuum but rather is a vote about a specific proposal. It is a vote by which we may approve a specific bill, a bill which sadly is full of defects which lead to a degenaration of our society as a whole. The issue of divorce should not be a matter of the majority against the minority, indeed it should be a situation where we act together as one society.

There is wide agreement that the best situation for our family is a situation where the family continues to strenghten. The group “Le B’Rispett Lejn il-Ġejjieni” cannot see how such is possible with a law introducing unilateral non fault divorce where marital commitment is weakened completely.

The group “Le B’Rispett Lejn il-Ġejjieni” appeals to all youths to vote in favor of society, to vote on the bases of the common good of society and not only with personal interests in mind. Finally the group “Le B’Rispett Lejn il-Ġejjieni” appeals to everyone to avoid at all costs any intimidation tactics and to leave everyone in full freedom and liberty to express any view and vote freely next Saturday.
